I think you're dead on here. There has been talk of a 100GB HD for quite some time. With the Zune dropping in November they need to have an option to store all this media (music, videos, movies) that will eventually (probably) be available on Live the near future.
Look, you just repeated exactly what I was saying. You very well might get charged from the developers, and Sony will definitely get a piece of that action if they are the "dedicated server".
Also, I'd love to find you a link from a credible site or magazine or something, but that's exactly it. Sony's only been talking vague about their online service, and the majority of what they've said about PS3 up to this point has been lies. So, I'm only able to assume to that t...
IT AIN'T FREE! Guys, listen...Sony may say it's free all day long, but it's not the truth...trust me. So maybe you can video chat, voice chat, text message, surf the web, and download skins or trailers for free, but you can do that on the 360 for free. Sony will get your money through the service whether your charged directly or a 3rd party. NO company (except perhaps MS) has the cash flow to lose 200+ dollars on each console sold, and then afford to create a great online service with the ser...
The internet is great, and no doubt that there is plenty of things to choose from. However, when I'm wanting to find some downloads for a game or a movie trailer then I want CONTROL. I definitely don't want to spend hours searching through the loads of crap that users have put up on the net. If I'm trying to download a demo for Madden, then I don't want to have to pan through all of the cheater hacks for the game or what not.
Even though none of us have seen or tried the servi...
Well, while you're entering your credit card numbers to play a game, buy a map, or download a video. I'll click a button and have all of those, then go on playing games.
This generation of consoles is all about adapting to this generation of humans. It's ALL about convenience. Every where you look you see convenience (stores, ATM's, pay at the pump, everthing), the PS3 online service is hardly going to be the most convenient.
Let's drop the fanboy crap and start...
Sony Fanboys suck my balls at 30 FPS.
HD DVD and BluRay BOTH LOSE!
It's still way too early for the average consumer to get into HD movies. Early Adopters YES!, my 85 year old Grandmother NO!. I'm telling you that it will take a few years for people to adopt this NEW format, just like it took DVD three years before it took off. Trust me, I was one of the poor souls that bought a DVD in the first few months and there wasn't anything to choose from. SUCKED>
It seems to me that this is Sony's equivalent to "Live Anywhere", not XBL. This appears to be a way to unite PC and PS3 gamers.
I still don't think this is great, but I'm not sure how they'll integrate it. It just seems confusing to add a 3rd party to the mix.
I don't know if I'd go that far, but it's a great looking, next gen game. It's obvious to me that Capcom has jumped into the next gen environment better than any developer so far. Are you listening EA?
...basically they're saying that if you want a Blu Ray player then buy a PS3, but if you want to get your game on then buy a 360. Sounds about right.
Holla!
Motorstorm would sure be sweet with a rumble controller. All of those rough terrains will never come through the controller and therefore decreasing realism. Crying shame!
The comment "you can't afford to buy a PS3 because you bought a Xbox 360" is absolutely the point why Sony is going to fail in the long run. Since when did I have to live an Uber Baller Lifestyle to afford a video game system? Sony is trying to cater to the high end market, but the high end products I've bought in the past haven't caught on fire. Sony is in financial trouble...FACT...and they're trying to cut production costs by using cheap materials. This is what companies do when ...
MS is well aware of the major uphill battle in Japan, so this is why they are taking the steps to have a worldwide appeal and going into markets that have never had a system launch there (i.e. India, South Africe, Eastern Block Countries, etc.). This is MS's strategy for this gen, and it appears to be working so far. US and Europe are the battle grounds for this gen, not Japan.
...for $599 and it includes all those things and I can install new software, word process, surf all of the web, play games, watch movies, watch TV, and do tons more.
My point is that value is in the eye of the beholder. Just cause it includes all of those things, it doesn't mean it's the BEST value.
Yeah, you heard me.
MS made a conscious decision to weigh in on how developers approached the XBL experience, because there was some crap that was being put out by developers on XBOX. They wanted to have unified and regulated support for every 360 game. Letting the developers make all of those decisions isn't necessarily a good thing. It usually tends to delay the games by a few months and is added stress to developers, which can detract from the game before it's released.
Please Fanboys, find me ...
I think it's awesome. My best friend lives over 500 miles away, and now we can video chat over XBL. It's also fun to mess around with the main dashboard and music dashboard. UNO and the other card games are fun with it, but also a little creepy. It's weird looking at everyone and then realize that they're looking at you. Now I actually have to get dressed to play games. Damn!
Totemball is just "so, so"...nothing great.
You're basically giving them permisssion to access your account and play games for you. That's what I understand.
Say for example that you want 1000 gamer points, well then they will sign on as you and then beat a game of Madden or something until they get the points you want.
This is simply a case of the media digging for anything to stir up these kind of fanboy wars. This is a MS guy that we hardly ever hear from, and on top of that we're hearing from him at X06. At X06 every MS employee is super pumped and super hyped, and may start talking about all kinds of things. It's like when your a kid and start talking about what you can and can't do..."I can run faster than Billy, Jamie, and Chris combined" or "My house is a bazillion times bigger than yo...
This isn't about, "well Sony meant this" or "it's just a misunderstanding", of course we know what Sony means to say. They're saying that we have a next gen video player and if you want your 360 to have one then you'll have to buy it. OK easy enough, however, the issue is that this .doc doesn't convey emotions or feelings. It doesn't come across as "this is what we mean". It plainly says "requires users to buy". Regardless of fanboy status this is plain...
